Description: Sodium Butyl Xanthate is a yellowish or pale grey substance coming in powder or pellet form; it has a pungentodor and is soluble in water.

Principal uses: Sodium Butyl Xanthate is a strong floatation collecting agent; it is used in the floatation of various, nonferrous metallic ores.  It is especially useful in the floatation collection of chalcopyrite, sphalerite and pyrite. 

It is also used as precipitant in hydrometallurgical processes and as a vulcanization (hardening process) accelerator in the rubber industry.
